I’ve gotten to the point where I like Northstar better as a member of the X-Men than running with Alpha Flight.
Certainly, the horrible AF series that just wrapped helps with that, but I think it’s largely a matter of that particular aspect of his life having played itself out. Jean-Paul never…
This is sort of how I feel. I like him with the X-Men because it seems like he’s doing it for his own reasons, instead of just putting up with it for Aurora like he seemed to with Alpha Flight. However, I haven’t read all the comics from either period (still new-ish to comics) so I could be wrong about that.
I’d say that’s a fair assessment. I do think there was some ego involved in looking out for Aurora (she is his twin, after all), but she was generally the only worthwhile reason to stay with Alpha Flight in his eyes, and even that never lasted for long. With Xavier’s, he finally found some internal motivation to throw in with the spandex crowd. I just wish it he’d been written better once that happened.

That makes a LOT of sense. Alpha Flight is where he started out, but it doesn’t mean he has to be stuck there.
