I guess this is tangentially related to Alpha Flight, but I’m mostly posting it for the big Sunfire fan on my dash, because there’s part of me thinking “Nah, this has to be nonsense”. But no, I’m seeing this on multiple websites.

Apparently, Big Hero 6 stands a good chance of being Disney’s first animated feature based on a Marvel property. (Here , here and here.)

On the one hand, Disney mining Marvel’s back-catalog for little known properties not obviously connected to the big movie franchises sounds awesome. Maybe we’ll get Slingers, Power Pack, or Livewires on the drawing board next. Or — dare I say it? — the Runaways movie might go back into production if this does well.

On the other hand…well, it’s a Japanese superhero team whose best-known incarnation was written by Chris “Wolverine’s a samurai-ninja-ronin and this story needs more Yakuza!” Claremont. Yeah…
