An Entirely Healthy Obsession

So…uh…

Serious question, here….

Alpha Flight.

Are they still, y’know, a thing?

Good question!

The Byrne-era characters are all still around, but whether or not Alpha Flight in its traditional role as government-sponsored team still exists is in question. During their (dreadful, horrible, longbox trash) last series, the team had something of a falling out with the Canadian government, as tends to happen when said government has been established as the most consistently evil governing body in the entire MU and tries to brainwash said team into a more docile state of mind. At the end of the story, it was implied that the team had returned to their heroic status.

However, the most recent Flight team observed working for the Canadian government was a new Omega Flight team (who had the dubious honor of having the shortest intro-to-kill time on record yet for a Flight team) with no sign of Alpha Flight. So either the Canadian government is using multiple Flight teams again, or Alpha Flight finally got a clue and decided to stop coming back for more punishment.

So far as individual members go:

Northstar - Living in New York with his new husband; currently in Astonishing X-Men

Puck - Currently appearing in Uncanny X-Force

Aurora - Assisting her brother in running Northstar Sports; still with Alpha Flight

Vindicator - Brainwashed, on the run with her and Guardian’s daughter, whereabouts unknown

Madison Jeffries - Affiliated with the X-Men; whereabouts unknown

Guardian, Sasquatch, Shaman, Snowbird, Marrina - Still with Alpha Flight

I remain redonkulously pleased that every other-media adaptation of the twins reverts to the classic costumes. And hey, if they ever make this guy a playable character, I’ll probably put down the cash to unlock him.
…assuming he’s either mute or gets a different VA, I mean. ;)

Alpha Flight #5, page 13 by John Byrne. 1983.

I still fail to see how putting a demon inside Puck was more interesting than his simply being 3ft tall and intensely badass.

Deadpool (v.2) #1 (Joe Kelly, Ed McGuinness)

This series was my first exposure to Deadpool, and Kelly’s tragi-comic take on the poor bastard is one reason why, though I’ve no real interest in later versions of the character, I do still have some affection for the ol’ Merc With a Mouth.

The above panels would be another.

God, Sasquatch as Wade’s therapist. As anyone’s therapist. The mind boggles.

Shelf porn 2/4.

I finally put up some shelves that don’t threaten to implode every time I add a new book and got rid of a few things. So! Shelf porn 2.0!
