Phil Noto “Create Your Own Variant” cover to Astonishing X-Men #51.
Well, let’s have a look here. Dead, divorced, on the rocks, dead and estranged, divorced, experimented on, then killed by spouse, dead…what, no Heather and Mac, or Lil and Madison? Peter and Mary Jane are, of course, absent by design.
Northstar? Kyle? Elope.

LOVE this cover
If Dazzler hadn’t been on the front row I would have freaked the fuck out and started throwing things.
Aurora looks so good and supportive!
Also I love that Rachel and Shan are sitting so close together. I would totally ship that pairing.
Well, that was fast. I see another cover that needs to be a poster on my wall.
Also: YAY, LOOKIT ALL THE X-KIDS! Lookit Kyle’s parents, being all happy and supportive!
Please, cover, we all know the saying, but don’t lie to us just this once?
There’s a “Canadian Response to the Avengers” in actual Marvel called Alpha Flight

Their names are so… fucked.
- Guardian
- Northstar
- Aurora
- Sasquatch
- Shaman
- Snowbird
- Marrina
- Puck
The best ones thought are:
- Yukon Jack
- Major Mapleleaf
Seriously Marvel. What do you think we are?
Why isn’t Wolverine there?
For God’s sake, don’t ask! Down that path lies madness!
…yes, I know the fringe is there to protect Walter’s modesty, but it still looks unhygienic as hell.
Wolverine (v.1) #179
In which Puck demonstrates why he’s my favorite non-Beaubier Alphan.
Unfortunately, this issue is also another chapter in the continuing gross treatment of the female members of Alpha Flight, as Snowbird gets morphed against her will into a helpless mate for an enormous demon insect. Ugh.
Talisman and Gatecrasher by Rémi Dousset
Posted because 1) Talisman and 2) this is the best Gatecrasher I’ve seen outside of Alan Davis’ Excalibur.
Northstar’s Boyfriends
I got a couple of requests ages ago for a list of Northstar’s pre-Kyle romantic relationships, so here’s a brief reference sheet for all you industrious fan-ficcers. Sorry it took so long!
Given how many references to Northstar’s sexuality have been delivered by hint and innuendo over the years, my criteria for what constitutes a noteworthy relationship are 1) explicit textual reference to a romantic and/or sexual relationship, 2) absent explicit text, subtext significant enough to imply a relationship or mutual attraction given meta-knowledge of Northstar’s history and/or 3) authorial intent that there was a romantic relationship/mutual attraction present that is not contradicted by the text.
